If you have a question about footpath maintenance in Richmond, a thought on the next playground upgrade, or simply want to know who your local councillor is, you can ask her directly on Saturday 6 June. Cr Meca Ho will be at The Learning Bank, 124 Victoria Street, Richmond, from 1pm.
The ward meeting is an informal drop-in, not a formal council session. Residents can arrive anytime, pull up a chair, and talk directly with the person elected to represent Melba Ward, which covers the bulk of Richmond.
Cr Ho was elected at the 2024 council elections. Yarra City Council has nine wards, each with a single councillor. These ward meetings are designed to make that one-on-one connection possible between elections.
It is the second such meeting this year. The previous one was held on 21 March at Jack Dyer Pavilion, also in Richmond, and followed the same casual format.
The Learning Bank is itself a dedicated community space. Operated by Yarra City Council in partnership with the Victorian Government, it occupies a former Commonwealth Bank site in North Richmond and offers digital literacy programs, training and flexible meeting rooms.
It is worth noting this is not the kind of session where you sit in the gallery and listen. The whole point is face-to-face chat. If you have a development application that bothers you, a traffic concern, or an idea for a local project, bring it.
Getting there is simple by public transport. Tram routes 78 and 79 stop at Victoria Street / Church Street, a short walk from the venue. Richmond Station is also within walking distance. Parking is limited, so leaving the car at home is recommended.
Afterwards, you could grab a coffee from one of the many Victoria Street cafes or take a walk through the neighbourhood.
If 6 June does not suit, ward meetings happen periodically across Yarra. Check the council website for future dates in your area.
