Knox Residents Invited to Shape Local Safety at Victoria Police Forum

If you’ve ever walked your child to school and worried about the crossing, or noticed that one stretch of path feels unsafe after dark, there’s a free forum in Knox this month where you can tell your local police exactly that.

The Knox PSA Neighbourhood Policing Forum runs from 3pm to 6pm on Thursday, 11 June 2026, at the Knox City Council Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South. Doors open at 2.45pm, and there’s no need to register or pay a cent.

It is part of Victoria Police’s statewide Neighbourhood Policing model, which assigns officers to specific suburbs so they get to know the streets, the schools, and the people who live there. The idea is that safety conversations happen before there’s a crisis, not after. The forum builds on a similar Knox session held in 2024, continuing a series of community engagement events run by the force in the Outer East.

Officers from the Knox Police Service Area will be there to hear concerns about anything from speeding on local roads to youth crime to the way a particular underpass makes you feel. Because the event is informal and drop-in, you can arrive when it suits and leave when you need to. One thing to know: this is not a ticketed event. While an Eventbrite page exists, it’s simply to help organisers gauge numbers; you can walk in regardless.

Getting there is straightforward. The civic centre is on Burwood Highway, serviced by several bus routes. Check the PTV website for current timetables, but if you’re driving, on-site parking is available at the centre. The forum time runs partly outside standard business hours, so after-school pick-up or a late work finish isn’t a dealbreaker.

And if you’re looking for a reason to make an afternoon of it, Knox City Shopping Centre is just up the road, and there are parks dotted around Wantirna South if the kids need a run-around beforehand. Other Knox community events are often listed on the council calendar around the same period if you want to bundle your visit.
